Slide Lectures on The History of Redding and Georgetown

My name is Brent Colley. I grew up in Redding, CT on Peaceable Street in the Georgetown section of town. I am 32 years of age, married and living in Sharon, CT.

My family came to Redding in the late 1800's and settled on Peaceable Street. Since then five generations have grown up in Redding.

In the past five years I've been able to obtain a great deal of information and photos of the Redding and Georgetown area. My collection is much larger than what you see here on the site largely because I do not receive funding for this web site. I add information whenever I can find the time to do so and unfortunately that has not been very often in the past year and a half.

The Norwalk River Watershed Association has allowed me to expand the reach of this web site by sponsoring a Walking History Tour this past Fall and a Slide Lecture on the History of Gilbert & Bennett in Georgetown this Winter. These opportunities have led to other speaking engagements: I presented a slide lecture to the Meadow Ridge facility on May 1 and The Cannondale Grange on May 15.

These lectures have been so well received and enjoyable that I am offering my services to the public. My past slide lectures have ranged from 1 hour to 1 and a half hours. I am very flexible and will be happy to discuss your needs with you to make the event a great success for you and an enjoyable evening for your audience.

My rate is $150 per lecture, interested parties can e-mail me at: bcolley@colleyweb.com or phone me at 860-364-7475. I work out of a home office so I am available any day of the week at any time.
