Summary of
Qualifications to be a Voter
To be able to
vote in local, state, and federal elections in Redding, you
must meet the following qualifications:
- a United States
citizen
- a resident of
Redding
- at least 18
years of age on or before the next election (you may register
when you are 17)
- if convicted
of a felony, had your voting rights restored by the Registrar
You must fill out
a new voter registration card if you have moved into town
or changed addresses in Redding.
You are not a
registered voter until your application has been approved
by the Registrar of Voters.

Deadlines
To be eligible
to vote in an election:
- your application
must be postmarked or received by the Redding Registrar
of Voters by the 14th day prior to the election
To be eligible
to vote in a primary:
Absentee
Ballots
Absentee ballots
have strict guidelines that must be followed to ensure your
ballot is vaid. An application for absentee ballot may be
downloaded:
- for the individual's
own use
- the use of a
member of the individual's immediate family
- the use of a
designee of the applicant
Any person who
will distribute five (5) or more absentee ballot applications
to persons other than the individual's immediate family must
register with and obtain forms from the Town Clerk of the
municipality where such forms will be distributed before
distributing such forms. For more detailed information please

of Voters.
There are three
types of absentee ballots. A brief description of each is
below, but questions should be forwarded to the Redding Registrar
of Voters.

Form is used for:
- members
of the Armed Forces
- absence
from the town during all the hours of voting
- personal
illness
- personal
physical diability
- religious
tenets
- duties as
a polling official at a polling place other than Redding,
CT during all hours of voting
- Application
Form Referendum Only is used in referendums for:
- members of
the Armed Forces
- absence from
the town during all the hours of voting
- personal illness
- personal physical
diability
- religious
tenets
- duties as
a referendum official at a polling place other than Redding,
CT during all hours of voting
- Emergency Application
is used for primaries, elections and referendums when:
- personal
unforseen illness within six days preceding close of
polling
- personal
unforseen physical diability within six days preceding
close of polling
- a patient
at a specified hospital within six days preceding close
of polling
