A
special thank you to Janet Tryde of Georgetown for allowing
me to borrow these photographs. I am extremely grateful, as
these are truly a window to the past that now can be seen
by all that wish to view them. Thank you Janet.

The

Another
view of the A&P from across the street. Today you would
be standing next to the Veterinarian's office look toward
South Main St.
School
children outside the original Gilbert & Bennett School
in 1910. This building was lost to fire in the late 20's.
School
children outside the second Gilbert & Bennett School (date
unknown). Notice the open doors behind the children, these
were fire escape doors that led from each and every classroom.
The second Gilbert school was state of the art for it's time
and still stands today.
The
Red Shop on the corner of what is now Old Mill Road and Route
57. The water wheel on the left was powered by water from
a pond now called Vidmark's pond. Water was channeled from
the pond to the wheel on wooden planks. This building was
torn down in 1869.
The
Gilbert Family. Edwin Gilbert is third from the left in the
second row.
